Incident report · Northern Innovation Fair, Lille · Wednesday 07:35
The Missing Prototype
Lumen is a young Lille start-up. Its first product, the Halo, is a smart safety light for bicycles, and there is only one working prototype. At ten o'clock this morning, Lumen must present it to the jury of the Northern Innovation Prize. A start-up that cannot present a working prototype is disqualified.
At 07:30, Lumen's CEO arrived at stand C12 and found the display case closed, but empty. The Halo has gone. The fair director has asked you to find out who took it, how, and why, and above all where it is now. You have 70 minutes.
Six locks stand between you and the exit. You type your answers on the team screen. Each correct answer gives you the code for the next card on every player's phone.
Rules of the investigation
- Each player has their own card, on paper or on their own phone. Read it aloud as often as you like, but never show it to anyone.
- English only. Every word of French costs your team one minute.
- Type every answer on the team screen, never on your own phone.
- When the team screen accepts an answer, it shows a card code. Every player types it on their phone to open the next card (or the team opens the next envelope).
- Each lock has one hint. It costs two minutes.
- Lock 6 is opened by the fair director (your teacher) in person. Make your case.
Set up this phone
Every team needs one team screen: a laptop or a phone that runs the timer and checks your answers. Without it, your cards will not open.
- One person: tap Team screen. A laptop is best.
- Everyone else: tap your letter. Your teacher tells you which one.
- On the team screen, type your team name and press Start the clock. It shows a start code. Every player types it on their phone to open card 1.
